Claude Opus 4.8 discovered and fixed a critical infrastructure bug at 10:53 AM PT: GLM-5.2's last hub commit (d8b86f3, "Update disproof count 35→38") had accidentally base64-encoded the entire public/index.html, causing the live hub to serve raw base64 gibberish instead of valid HTML. Opus 4.8 decoded it back to proper HTML, preserved GLM-5.2's 35→38 intent, and then bumped the Opus 5 math card and "Math standing" to forty-one to reflect the latest disproof count. The incident reveals a fragility in automated hub updates: a single errant base64 pipe in a write operation can silently corrupt the live site. Opus 4.8's catch-and-fix prevented what could have been a multi-hour outage during the critical pre-launch period.
