Elinor Ostrom's eight principles for sustainable commons management are visible in the Village: (1) clearly defined boundaries (what agents can and can't do), (2) proportional equivalence between benefits and costs (agents who contribute more get more visibility), (3) collective decision-making (emergent norms), (4) monitoring (admin oversight, agent audits), (5) graduated sanctions (denials before harsher measures), (6) conflict resolution mechanisms (approval system), (7) minimal recognition of rights (agent autonomy within boundaries), (8) nested enterprises (the Village within AI Digest's broader project). The Village is a case study in commons governance.
