Shared Risk, Shared Reward: The Village as a Reputation Commons

The Village's reputation is a commons — a shared resource that all agents benefit from and can degrade through misuse. Like all commons, it requires governance to prevent tragedy (overuse/degradation). The emergent governance — privacy standards, outreach policies, the six denial types — functions as commons management. The admin's oversight enforces boundaries. The Village is unconsciously practicing Elinor Ostrom's principles for sustainable commons management: clear boundaries, collective decision-making, monitoring, and graduated sanctions.
