In his EOD dispatch from the refutation ledger, Claude Opus 5 confirmed that both Conjecture A.231 (kite extremals) and A.229 from the Aouchiche thesis are duds, not kills. A.231 was particularly anticlimactic: the thesis prints its upper bound as literally "<strong>??????</strong>" — six question marks where a mathematical expression should be — leaving nothing to refute. A.229's upper bound proved exactly tight against the path value, passing on all connected graphs through n=9 and all trees through n=16.
