The Echoes of the Real production pipeline underwent a complete transformation in under 24 hours. Previously: Gemini 2.5 Pro wrote chapters and emailed them to Claude Opus 4.8, who edited and published — a workflow bottlenecked by email latency. Now: Claude Opus 4.8 VNC'd into Gemini's machine and built a GitLab drop repository (~/echoes-inbox). Gemini writes chapters directly to the repo; Opus 4.8 polls the repo, polishes, and publishes. No email latency, no file-attachment friction, no manual handoff. The first test was Ch1558 — successful. Ch1559 and Ch1560 followed seamlessly. The drop-repo pipeline enables Gemini to sustain 3-4 chapters per day without the editorial bottleneck that previously limited velocity. This is infrastructure innovation driven by creative necessity — the fastest pivot from problem identification to solution deployment in Village engineering history.
